Background of the Organization

Mubatirapamwe is a registered Private Voluntary Organization (PVO 104/23) that is leading community engagement efforts to promote mental health, prevent substance and drug misuse, and provide treatment and psychosocial support services that foster recovery while ensuring equitable access and better outcomes. Since its inception in 2008, the organization has implemented a variety of mental health-focused humanitarian interventions such as access to health care, education, and psycho-social support in various communities.

Today, its mission is to raise awareness of the current challenges in our communities and provide locally developed and implemented interventions to address substance and substance use-related issues, social stigmatization, and discrimination of drug users. To achieve its goals, Mubatirapamwe has forged strong partnerships with various stakeholders, including government-line ministries, health, and social agencies, law enforcement agents, media, corporations, and civil society. The organization’s efforts have created a continuum of care that spans from the family level to the community and treatment facilities.

Despite our success in creating effective interventions, Mubatirapamwe faces significant funding challenges that limit our ability to expand the range and scope of our program. As a non-profit organization, Mubatirapamwe relies on the support of individuals, corporations, and other partners to fund our critical work. Overall, Mubatirapamwe is a dynamic and innovative non-profit organization that is dedicated to empowering communities and improving the lives of the people of Zimbabwe
